Kalamazoo Weekly offers ad design to our clients at no extra cost. Below is a list of helpful hints that will help to ensure your ad is the best it can possibly be.
- The more time the designer has, the better your ad will look.
- Trust the designer…. after all, they're professionals
- Include only the most relevant information, too much information and the reader will skip right over it.
- Don't be afraid of negative (white) space. In a newspaper, the more negative space your ad has, the more it will stand out among the columns of heavy newsprint.
- Color ads are far more effective than black and white, but too much color will make your ad look very unprofessional.
- Be careful when choosing graphics. If you have a specific graphic, be sure it is of appropriate size and does not contain "pixilation." Steer clear of bad clipart, Internet images, and
copyrighted material.
- Any company logos or artwork that you want included are best submitted electronically form
the original design. Retrieving images from scanned images and web pages can be risky.
- Your ad is your space in the newspaper, and we will do our very best to make sure it works for you. With that in mind, be aware that Kalamazoo Weekly has specific standards that all ads must meet. If you are submitting a pre-designed ad that does not meet these standards, we will let you know, and work with you to rectify the problem.
